Assoc. Director, EEG

PsychoGenics is seeking an Associate Director (or Director, depending on experience) who will work closely with the VP, Translational Neuroscience and the Program Manager/Sr. Scientist to coordinate and manage a group of hard-working, dedicated scientists and research associates. We are in need of an expert in pre-clinical EEG with a background in basic sleep science. As a CRO, we perform studies testing potential new therapies for almost every CNS disorder. An expert in sleep science and pre-clinical (rodent) EEG can provide a skillset well suited for this opportunity. 

 

This position entails many activities including assisting in the design and development of study plans, interacting with clients, scheduling rooms/equipment/staff, and oveseeing/assisting (hands on) with studies, including surgeries, data collection, data analyses, and data interpretation. The ideal candidate will be quickly immersed in the position, building positive relationships with team members, being a subject matter expert, and being a leader for the EEG team.

 

THIS IS AN ONSITE POSITION.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Rapidly gain expertise in all procedures and techniques used by the EEG staff.
  • Develop positive working relationships with all EEG staff and gain their trust/respect.
  • Ability to train staff and help nurture their careers.
  • In coordination with project leaders and management, design and develop experiments to analyze EEG changes induced by pharmaceutical agents and/or generic models for seizures, ERPs, and sleep.
  • Perform, manage, and oversee studies, including surgeries, dosing, and EEG recordings.
  • Review and check the quality of analyzed EEG data, including sleep-scoring, seizure detection, evoked potentials and spectral analysis.
  • Write study plans and reports, convey complicated data in a straightforward fashion.
  • Engage with clients on study design and reporting of data.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of EEG recording equipment.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous management/supervisory experience.
  • PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or other related degree.
  • 5-15 years of demonstrated applicable experience in EEG.
  • Prior experience working with rodents.
  • Previous success as a team leader and motivator; excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of employees and work effectively as a member of a team.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change on a dime.
  • Demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of electronics and EEG recording systems (DSI, Spike2, Pinnacle/Sirenia).
  • Expertise in rodent EEG analyses including signal processing, sleep scoring, and seizure detection.

 

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a CRO and/or Drug Discovery environment.
  • Programming experience (i.e., Matlab, EEGLAB, Python, R, and/or statistical software like SAS).

 

 

The approximate base salary range for this position is $120,000 - 140,000. Salary will be determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, knowledge, and education.
