PsychoGenics is a well-established preclinical Contract Research Organization (CRO) that provides comprehensive preclinical testing capabilities in CNS and orphan disorders. PsychoGenics has established several automated behavioral platforms, including the SmartCube platform, that provide phentypic screening at an industrial level to support drug discovery programs.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated researcher to join our rat pharmacology team. The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists and researchers supporting preclinical and translational studies using predominantly rodent models. The primary responsibilities of the candidate will include, but will not be limited to, conducting behavioral assays, dosing animals, surgical nursing, and tissue collection. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating studies and the proper execution of experiments. The candidate must be capable of working both across teams and independently.
Responsibilities:
Tasks performed with rodents may include:
- Test article dosing via various routes: IP, SC, PO, etc.
- Behavioral testing: pain assays, rotarod, functional observational battery.
- Tissue collection: plasma, brain, CSF.
- Data handling: data entry, analysis, and graphing.
- Study coordination: preparation for study, collaboration and communication between team members and functional teams, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, neuroscience, or related field.
- 1-3 years of laboratory and behavioral handling experience with rodents, preferbably rats.
- Attention to detail, organizational, multitasking, and troubleshooting skills.
- Able to work well in a group atmosphere, as well as independently.
- Excellent to commitment and motivation to perform and to learn.
- Able to comprehend and comply with SOPs and IACUC regulations, and to follow safety and quality assurance protocols, as well as to question and/or report any deviations to study protocols.
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and to pick up new skills quickly.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Rodent handling skills and dosing experience (IP, SC, PO).
- Experience with rodent behavioral testing.
- Knowledge of rodent behavioral models.
