We are seeking a Research Scientist to fill a Study Director role in our CNS focused contract research organization (CRO). We are seeking an expert on pre-clinical microdialysis that has a background in using microdialysis techniques in rodents. This position will work closely with the VP, Translational Neuroscience and the Associate Director of the EEG Group to lead studies that collect microdialysis samples following various experimental protocols including administration of novel test articles and genetic manipulations. Studies performed at PsychoGenics include single and dual probe experiments in mice and rats. Studies investigate levels of neurotransmitters, novel compounds, and large molecules such as antibodies or a-synuclein. The ideal candidate will be an expert pre-clinical rodent microdialysis with knowledge of basic sleep science. Being able to thrive in a busy, fast-paced work environment is a must as is working in collaboration with other scientists on the team. This position will also lead junior staff members.
Job Responsibilities:
- Rapidly gain expertise in all procedures and techniques used by the microdialysis team.
- Work and manage all levels of personnel in a positive, respectful manner.
- Ability to train staff and help nurture their careers.
- In coordination with management, design and develop experiments that use microdialysis techniques following pharmaceutical agents and/or genetic manipulations.
- Perform, manage, and oversee studies, including surgeries, dosing, QC'ing, and coordination with the PGI bioanalysis team when applicable.
- Work with management to help write study plans and reports and be able to discuss the data collection and analyses processes in a clear manner.
- Will have some engagement with clients on study design and reporting of data.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of the microdialysis equipment.
Required Qualifications:
- Previous management/supervisory experience.
- PhD in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or other related degree.
- 3-10 years of demonstrated applicable microdialysis experience.
- Ability to interact appropriately with all levels of management/employees and work effectively as a member of a team.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
- Demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a Contract Research Organization (CRO) and/or Drug Discovery environment.
- Previous success as a team leader and motivator, with excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Programming experience (i.e., MatLab, EEGLAB, Python, R, and/or statistical software like SAS).
